I wanted to share what God is doing through maritime and how your prayers are being answered. Last week I began my final phase of training…on the high seas!
The Kwadima II and her crew have been the cornerstone of translation support by providing reliable and safe water transportation to the numerous translation teams working in Milne Bay area for several years.
The ship is located in Alotau and is a part of the Alotau Regional Translation Center. The center is managed by Albert and Marcia Veldstra. They work together wonderfully with Boat Operations Manager/Captain Sokie Kasinove and Kwadima’s live aboard crew.

The crew consists of Captain Iggy Eugine, Engineer Moses Kainini, Super Cargo man, Alipi Yanuota and Crew boy, Kingston Kakua.
(Moses Kainini – keeping her in tip top shape)
I spent three days on the Kwadima II observing the boat’s operation as they picked up passengers and translators. They carry commercial passengers and cargo to offset the transportation cost for the translation teams. They worked tirelessly loading and unloading freight, sometimes by dingy in some difficult conditions. This is essential to cutting expenses for the translation teams. They functioned as a well-oiled team. They keep the Kwadima II clean, maintained and her passengers safe.

Their service of building up the body of Christ and working hard to build relationships in all the surrounding islands is impressive! These men are an excellent example of a Christian life lived out in a difficult place.
I was greatly blessed to have the opportunity be training as a captain for the fast transport boat while on the Kwadima II. The captain and crew shined brightly in the hard work of maritime operations. I would ask that you would remember them in prayers, as this was the same crew that was attacked and injured by pirates just a few months ago. They continue fearlessly and courageously in the service of Our Lord. May God Bless the Kwadima II and her crew.
